NUTRITION CONSULTING

Pregnancy

Proper nutrition is essential for both mama and baby. After years of working as a birth doula I realized that in spite of the growing scientific research around nutritional needs in pregnancy, very few pregnant women receive nutritional support from their doctors. I believe that food is medicine, and our first defense in warding off complications and promoting a healthy journey. Nutrition played a crucial role in my own personal pregnancy journey and I feel passionate about supporting mothers and babies in the same way through this sacred time.

With the support of a Certified Nutrition Consultant, it’s possible to reduce your chances of "morning" sickness (more appropriately: all day, any time nausea!), fatigue, constipation, heartburn, mood swings, pre-eclampsia, anemia, gestational diabetes, postpartum depression, and more.

Nourishing your pregnancy will help your baby build solid bones, a strong immunity, healthy tissue and organs. It’s also possible to reduce their risk of birth defects, low birth weight, allergies, conditions such as eczema or asthma, and many potential health problems later in life. Providing your body with the proper nutrition will help provide your baby with the best start possible. Nutrition consulting will empower you with the knowledge and confidence that you are doing the best for your baby and your body.

Postpartum

So much of a new mother's attention is focused towards nourishing her little babe in the beginning, but it's equally important that a new mother is taken care of as well! Her health must be made a priority so that she has the energy and clarity for her new role in motherhood.

During pregnancy your body is completely devoted to your baby, but taking the time to be mindful of your own nutrition once the baby arrives isn’t self-indulgent, it’s necessary.

After pregnancy, you are more susceptible to anemia, osteopenia, fatigue, and depression. A practical and individualized nutrition plan can help you safely balance your body while replenishing your reserves so you can feel your best. If you're breastfeeding, what you eat can also directly affect the quality of your breast milk. Consuming a nutrient-dense diet will enrich your milk with the nutrients necessary to help your baby's brain and body grow and develop.
